Adding Photos and a Business Description to Your Google Business Profile
SUGGESTED TIMING: Week 2
- Upload logo, cover, and business photos
- Write your business description
Photos and a clear business description are some of the fastest ways to build trust with parents, students, and anyone searching for a driving school.
Adding Photos That Build Trust
Photos prove you’re real and give potential customers a sense of what to expect.
Upload photos that show:
- Your logo (shows in search results)
- The outside of your business
- Your training vehicle
- The inside of your classroom (if applicable)
- Your instructors and staff
- A horizontal cover photo
To add photos to your Google Business Profile:
- Sign in to the Google account you used to claim your business profile (usually it’s a Gmail address)
- Go to Google.com or Google Maps and search for your business name
- In the business panel, click “Add photo” or go to Business Profile Manager > Photos tab
- Choose the type of photo you’re uploading (Logo, Cover, “At work,” etc.)
- Select a photo from your computer or mobile device and upload it
- Repeat for each photo you want to add
To capture good photos using your digital camera or mobile phone:
- Use natural daylight if you can
- Keep spaces clean and clutter free
- Take photos straight on, not tilted
- Make sure images are sharp and in focus
- Crop or brighten photos if needed
TIP: Listings with real, current photos get more clicks and more trust, even if the photos are simple ones taken with your phone. Customers just want to see the real you.
Writing a Great Business Description
When setting up your Google Business Profile, you’ll be prompted to supply a description in an open text box. You have 750 characters to tell people who you are, what you offer, and why you’re different.
Be sure to include:
- What you offer
- Who you serve
- What makes you different
Feeling stuck? Use a template like this to get started:
“[Business Name] is a driving school in [City/Area] offering [teen/adult/defensive] driving lessons. Our calm, experienced instructors make learning safe and stress free. We also provide online courses from the American Safety Institute. With over [X] years of experience, we’re here to help you pass your test and drive with confidence.”
Include keywords people search for, like “DMV test prep” or “defensive driving class,” but keep it natural.
TIP: Write like you’re talking to a real customer. Be clear, confident, and friendly.
